While the rest of your body and mind will be enjoying your travel experience, it’ll likely to be a stressing time for the skin. That’s why practising the best travel skincare routine is a must.
Here are some quick guidelines on how to take care of your skin whilst travelling.
Introduce Serums Into Your Travel Skincare Routine
A serum is a skincare product that you apply on the skin after cleansing and before applying a moisturiser so that it is able to deliver nutrients directly into the skin.
It has smaller molecules than other products, which allows it to penetrate deep into the skin.
Vitamin C & Hyaluronic Acid By Day

For the brightest and tightest skin, consider a vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum into your travel skincare routine.
Hyaluronic acid helps maintain skin hydration by reducing the loss of moisture.
Vitamin C serum protects the skin from untimely wrinkles by stimulating collagen production.
Personal Travel Skincare Recomendations…
My favourite serum is the eco-friendly (98% plastic free) and cruelty-free Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid Serum by The Pro Co.
A couple of drops of this super serum, and your travel skincare routine will be improved greatly.
Retinol By Night

Go for The Pro Co. Retinol Serum during the night.
Retinol is derived from Vitamin A and promotes the production of collagen, along with skin turnover.
With the sun/sea/sand/snow and all other extreme elements you encounter whilst travelling, a potent night skincare product is a must.
But, Don’t Forget Your Eyes Whilst Practising Your Travel Skincare Routine

Are late nights, early mornings and long days out on adventures a thing for you?
Then do not forget an eye serum to get rid of the puffy eyes and under-eye bags.
Not only will your eyes look brighter, light massage is great for lymphatic drainage, helping your eyes look fresher.
The Pro Co. have formulated an absolute must-have serum for eyes, which is a perfect size for travel.
No Travel Skincare Routine Is Complete Without Sunscreen
Sunscreen or sun block is aimed at helping to prevent the negative effects of the sun’s UV radiation.
Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen (UVA/UVB) that has a sun protection factor of not less than 30+.
If you intend to swim, go for a water resistant sun block.
For the best results, apply the sunscreen about 20 minutes before sun exposure.
This gives the sunscreen time to get absorbed into the skin so that it is able to protect you properly.
Reapply the sunscreen after every two hours on the exposed parts of the skin if you are sweating, exercising, towel drying or swimming.
Remember to carry a hat and a pair of sunglasses too for added protection.
Sun Protection Recommendation
My personal recommendation for sun protection is Ultrasun Sports Gel, which can be applied once a day depending on whether you’re swimming.
Carry A Favourite Facial Cleanser
You have to have clean skin so that all of the other products can work effectively.
It also helps to get rid of dirt, oil and impurities that might be lodged on the surface of the skin and in pores during the day.
If you have oily skin or suffer from acne, go for a deep cleanser to help open up the blocked pores on your face.
My Favourite Cleanser
I use Iuvo White Lotus Skin Cleanser which smells lovely, is 100% natural and is great for sensitive skin.
Perfect for soothing sun or wind-burnt skin at the end of a long day.
Carry Weather Appropriate Skin Care Products
It is important that you determine the weather and temperature of your destination so that you can plan accordingly.
If your destination will be cold, expect the air to be dry, and for your skin to dry out fast.
In this case, carry with you lots of moisturiser, and soothing skin products.
My absolute favourite facial moisturiser is Ultra Bee Anti Ageing Balm.
Do not forget, a hand moisturising cream to keep the hands supple too.
If you are travelling to a warm climate, the air there would likely be humid.
This will cause the skin to release lots of sebum.
If you have oily skin, you may be prone to clogged pores.
In this case, consider carrying with you a deep facial cleanser and of course, lots of sunscreen as I mentioned.
Keep Your Body Hydrated
Hydration is very important for the skin.
It helps maintain the skin suppleness and vibrancy.
Ensure that you drink enough fresh water whilst travelling.
Try not to substitute water with energy drinks and sugared juices, as they will dehydrate you, and hinder the glowing look!
Keep Your Hands Clean
By keeping your hands off your face, you help prevent breakouts.
Hands transfer various strains of bacteria onto your skin, which may cause several problems.
You can consider carrying an antibacterial hand wash or a sanitiser if you are prone to touching your face regularly.
Get Enough Sleep
Just like other body parts, the skin rejuvenates when you are relaxing.
Therefore, ensure that you are resting enough during your trips.
You will not only feel fresher, but also look healthier.
